Working at the Festival of Books on March 15 gave our group a great opportunity to reach out to the community and talk to people of all ages about conflict palm oil. People of all ages were interested in our booth, from children to grandparents. We talked to people about how to be a responsible consumer, and encouraged them to check the labels of products before they go to the checkout line.
Showing people pictures of the animals that are effected by harvesting palm oil seemed to be one of the most popular topics of discussion- because who would want all the adorable orangutan babies and little elephants to go extinct? We really got the feeling that the community cares about palm oil and seeing how they were genuinely intrigued to check out our website really made us feel like we made an influence.
